Where and when do we meet?

Piping practice is on Thursday evenings at St Blane’s Church, from 7.00pm to 8.30pm (ish).

What kinds of tunes do we play?

We play several tunes that are “standard tunes” and will be played by almost every pipe band, like Scotland the Brave, Green Hills of Tyrol, Corriechoillies and Teribus. Last year we extended our repertoire and played at Edinburgh Castle with other BB bands from Scotland. We also play some classic tunes along with the BB Wind Band, like Highland Cathedral and Amazing Grace.

What instruments do we play?

The instrument we play is called “The Great Highland Bagpipe”.

What do we do at Thursday piping class?

On a Thursday evening, we spend time working on the tunes on the practice chanter to learn new tunes and make sure we can all play them properly. We then spend time playing together on the pipes. While you learn first on the practice chanter, the pipes are the main instrument and are more complicated to play.
