Junior Section is for boys in Primary 4, 5 & 6 and meets every week on Fridays from 6.15-7.45pm in the Cathedral Hall (NB – St. Blane’s Church instead during September/October 2023 while renovations are going on in the Cathedral Hall). Each weekly meeting gives boys an action-packed evening, with boys enjoying sports, life skills, music, art, cooking, figure marching, visiting speakers and lots more. Boys’ activities help them work towards badges, which they love to earn each year. In Juniors, there’s also an opportunity to take part in competitions with other BB groups from Stirling/Clackmannanshire, such as quizzes, 5-a-side and 7-a-side football, ten-pin bowling, swimming galas, sports days, figure marching and orienteering. Junior Section boys can also join the company band (which meets on Wednesday evenings) from P5 and learn a brass, woodwind or percussion instrument.
At Junior Section, we help boys start to think about the meaning of the bible stories we have activities on each week, and how the lessons from these can make an impact on how they live and work with other people. We encourage Sunday School or church attendance and provide opportunities for the boys to come to our two churches on an occasional basis. Every year, we have a weekend away at a residential centre, which is one of the boys’ major highlights. Our uniform consists of blue Boys’ Brigade sweatshirt, badge armband, school grey/black trousers and formal black shoes. Boys also need to bring a PE kit each week.
