Seniors Section

Senior Section

Our Senior Section is for boys in S4 to S6 and meets alongside our Company Section on both Fridays and Sundays. Attending on both days regularly is an expectation of membership, whilst we also offer other activities on Mondays and Wednesdays (see below).

On a Friday evening, we meet from 7.45-10.00pm in Dunblane Cathedral Hall. We start off alongside the P7-S3 boys, for whom seniors are given responsibility for leading and setting an example to. After our opening inspection and devotions – a time to stop and think about the week’s events and see what the bible might have to say about them – seniors will have their own programme, which could vary from a topical movie one week, a mock trial or debate another, and a Top 50 songs competition the next. Seniors have a lot of say in planning their own programme and the leaders plan things accordingly.

On Sundays, we alternate between an evening bible class and games night (7.30-9.00pm) and a morning bacon-roll bible class (9.45-10.30am) to give boys who might have other activities the chance to attend on Sundays as often as they can. These meetings are at St. Blane’s Hall, where, on evening meetings, we offer big-screen Xbox games, table tennis, pool and chess club following the half-hour bible activity, which is always interactive and thought-provoking. After Sunday morning meetings, we often go for a hike, adding to our extensive outdoors programme.

Your activities will count towards gaining awards and you can register to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (Bronze/Silver/Gold) through the BB in Dunblane after a 3-month trial period of membership. Many of our seniors help out in one of the younger sections.

Seniors are offered lots of opportunities, including many that the company section do but also some that they don’t. For example, we will sometimes go off on Friday nights for special visits or social events without the younger guys, and we have a couple of weekends away (including a ski trip and mountain bike weekend) to ourselves, too. But we’ll work with the P7-S3 boys as well, helping make sure they have the same great experiences that we did.

For more information, call Colin Anderson, Leader in charge of Seniors on 01786 822955. You can also e-mail info@dunblanebb.org.uk. If you decide to come along with a friend on a Friday or Sunday for the first time, we do need a consent form signed by a parent/carer.
